Recording

For local musicians, I can offer digital recording and mixdown. I use my PowerMac with a DigiDesign AudioMediaII card to capture the raw audio tracks, then a whole arsenal of software on both Mac and PC to really optimize the sound quality (sweetening).

This is best suited for singer/songwriters, solo musicians, duos, etc., because the system I am using only takes 2 tracks of audio simultaneously. Full band recordings are possible, but it would mean each musician would need to record their parts sequentially. The first person to be recorded must be the drummer (unless everyone is comfortable playing to a click track), and to do so we must first mix all the drum microphones into just 2 tracks of audio (Left and Right). Then after the drums are recorded, each of the other musicians may record 2 at a time (if recording mono parts), or one at a time if stereo parts.

Also, please note that the technology I am using was state-of-the-art in 1996, but today no longer is the case (i.e. 16-bit). This is more than sufficient for the needs of most demo recordings, but if higher resolution is desired, I strongly suggest finding another alternative instead.

Please click the "Contact" button above and I will be happy to discuss the possibilities with this in further detail.
